Research Interests

Periodontitis, or gum disease, develops as infections from oral pathogens accumulate in the periodontal pockets of the gums. Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg) is one of the major species involved in these infections, but there are few complete genomes available for strains of this species. I aim to isolate new strains of Pg, fully sequence and assemble their genomes, and build a pangenome for the species.
